Chima Njoku, A 33-year-old man was arraigned in court on Thursday for allegedly transferring N100,000 from his friend’s bank account into his own with the friend’s phone.
Mr. Njoku, who lives inGbagada was arraigned before anOgudu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on a two-count-charge of breach of peace and stealing. According to the prosecutor, Lucky Ihiehie, the accused committed the offence between Sept. 5 and Oct. 6, 2017 at his residence.

According to him, the complainant, one Samuel Ogundipe, a military personnel and roommate of the accused, reported the matter to the police onOct. 7. Mr. Ihiehie said Mr Njoku took Ogundipe’s phone when he was asleep and used it to steal from his account.
“The accused used the complainant’s Guaranty Trust Bank application to transfer N100, 000 into his own personal GTB account without his consent,’’ he said.
The prosecutor said Mr Ogundipe went to his bank to find out what was happening after he noticed that for a month, money had been missing from his account without any alerts. It was while examining his bank account statement that he discovered that the Mr Njoku had been stealing from him through his phone.

He also alleged that Mr Njoku’s name appeared on many transactions that his roommate did not know about including several transactions he made while his roommate slept.
According to the prosecutor, Mr Njoku found out the pin number sometime in January when his roommate lent him N200, 000. The offence, according to Mr Ihiehie, contravened Sections 168 (d) and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised).
The accused, Mr Njoku, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges and the Magistrate, O. Sule-Amzat, granted him bail to the tune of N200, 000 with two sureties, whose addresses must be verified.
PT reports that the case was subsequently adjourned to December 13.
