A desperate mum made a heart-wrenching plea to save her cancer-stricken young son. Three-year-old Devon Hall has undergone gruelling bouts of chemotherapy, stem cell treatment and blasts of radiotherapy as he battles with aggressive stage four neuroblastoma. But mum Debbie, of Towyn, Wales, said that even if the youngster overcomes the disease, the bleak prognosis is that there is still an 80% chance of it returning.
In recent weeks, the Towyn tot has even come close to death after an infection left him fighting for his life in intensive care, the Daily Post reports.
In a heart-wrenching update on Facebook, mum-of-four, Debbie explained that overseas treatment would give Devon access to a wider range clinical trials abroad as there is limited eligibility in the UK.
She wrote: “I’ve always thought of myself as a proud person but Devon’s cancer diagnosis and this last week especially have totally stripped me bare of that, so I’m now going to ask for everyone for help for the first time because I’m struggling with everything a cancer diagnosis brings.
“I have so many worries about so many things that I feel sometimes I cant cope.
“People say I’m strong, I’m not strong, I cry every single night at the thought that I could lose my baby, but in the day, I try so hard to be as brave as he is.
“This last week has shown me how vulnerable and fragile he really is and it was terrifying for me as his mum to watch him struggle so much.
“I have also just recently found out that the cancer Devon has is so aggressive, a high proportion - as much as 80% with high risk neuroblastoma - will relapse and in the case of relapse there is no standard treatment path to follow.”To help, visit http://www.gofundme.com/Superhero-Devon
