THE Anambra State police command said Friday in Awka that it has arrested the proprietor of Arthur Garden Hotel in Npkor, a suburb in Onitsha, Mr. Arthur Udo Christopher seven days after four suspected kidnapers were arrested in the hotel by the police.
In a statement in Awka, the state police command said the hotel proprietor was arrested inEnugu on Thursday and is presently helping the police in itsinvestigations.
In addition to the headquarters of the hotel sealed off last week, the statement said that two other branches located at No 1 Anglican road, Nkpor and No 13 Central School road, Afor Nkpor, had also been sealed off. The arrest of the proprietor brings to five the number of people linked with the hotel that were in police net.
Earlier, the police had arrested four persons whose names were given as Chinedu Eze, Obumneme Madugha, Okezue Chukwuemeka and John Okoro during a rain in the hotel.
According to the police, the arrested persons made confessional statements that helped the police to rescue two kidnap victims whose names were given as Mr. Augustine Emeka, operations manager ofZenith Bank at Nkpor and Sir Vincent Ohiagwu from Uga in Aguata local government area. Both men were kidnapped on July 29, 2012.
It expressed the commitment of the police to rid the state of all forms of criminal activities and urged members of the public to volunteer information that would aid the police in carrying out its duties of protecting lives and property efficiently and effectively.
